MEET MATT
A Citizen Candidate with a JD/MBA who was born and raised in Schaumburg and stands for transparency, inclusion and responsiveness
I’m thankful today for the chance to give back to the community that raised me by running for Schaumburg Village President in the upcoming April 2nd election, something all who know me can attest I've wanted to do since my younger days growing up here. Ever since I earned my Citizenship in the Community merit badge from my late father on my way to becoming an Eagle Scout, I’ve wanted to find new and better ways to give back to the community in which I’m also thankful for having been raised! I plan to be an involved, determined, honest and direct Village President with a strong sense of exhibiting leadership. I also hope to provide one more alternative choice for change as someone who is a proud resident hoping to advocate on your behalf!
My involvement in and around our community includes sitting on the Olde Schaumburg Centre Commission and I was heavily involved at St. Matthew parish as a Lector and Sacristan Assistant (if you were a parishioner in the ‘90’s you may have even bought a newspaper from me there back in my younger days!). I currently serve as President of a local nonprofit board of directors for Resources for Community Living, an organization based in the Northwest suburbs that helps developmentally disabled adults live independently by helping them get and keep jobs, find housing and balance their budget/pay their bills. This is a meaningful service for those who aren’t severe enough to get state aid but would otherwise slip through the cracks. I am also on the board of directors for The John Marshall Law School’s Alumni Association (JD 2007) and First Financial Servicing, a credit union servicing organization. Professionally, I currently help lead the direction and activities of a Loop law firm’s finance department, managing a budget roughly the same size as Schaumburg's, and serve as an adjunct professor at Dominican University (MBA 2007). I hope to bring my budgeting knowledge and board experience to the benefit of each you and all our residents by increasing Schaumburg's transparency, inclusion and responsiveness.
Finally, I have signed and filed the Illinois Code of Fair Campaign Practices to ensure this will be a good and clean campaign and hope all running will consider doing so as well! Please feel free to ask me anything as I hope to hear what matters most to each of you!
